Scott Hazelton was a standout during the 1998-1999 season leading Central Catholic High School to a Division 1 State Championship averaging over 30 points and 11 rebounds per game. Scott also played an intensive AAU and summer basketball schedule and became one of the top 20 high school basketball prospects in the country during his junior year. Scott was named Massachusetts’ player of the year by both Gatorade and the Basketball Hall of Fame. In his senior year, Scott was named a McDonald’s All-American. Scott later played at the University of Connecticut as well as at the University of Rhode Island where he was named the team MVP and a member of the Atlantic 10 All-League team. Scott averaged 16 points per game and finished with the fourth best free throw percentage (80.7) in the school’s history making 159 of 197 free throws in his Rhode Island career. Upon graduation from URI in 2005, Scott began a professional basketball career in Europe. As a professional, Scott has played both in Sweden and Luxembourg. As member of the Black Star Mersch in Luxembourg, Scott was named the league’s Most Valuable Player averaging over 30 points per game.
Sean Connolly is currently the head coach at St. John’s Prep High School in Danvers, MA. Coach Connolly played his high school career at Bishop Fenwick High School where he averaged an amazing 28.4 points per game as his team compiled a 77-10 record in games he played, including a 47 game Catholic Central League winning streak. Coach Connolly finished his high school career with 2,473 points and is considered one of the best high school players in the history of Massachusetts High School basketball. Coach Connolly went on to play collegiately at Providence College and Ohio State University. Coach Connolly earned Big East rookie team honors at Providence College during his freshman year. During his three seasons at Ohio State, he scored over 1,000 points as he lead the Buckeye’s to two NCAA appearances.
Soulymane Wane played center for the 99 NCAA UCONN title team that featured future NBA star Richard Hamilton (Detroit Pistons). Following his collegiate career, Wane entered the NBA draft and attended the Portsmouth Invitational and Chicago Pre-Draft camps. Wane’s overseas resume includes stints in the Adriatic League, and in Japan, Poland, and Germany. As a native of Senegal, he also played for the Senegalese National Team in 1999 and 2005 participating in the African National Games. Coach Wane now is a French Teacher at Haverhill High School where he is also JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach.
Mike Trovato played his high school basketball career at Central Catholic High School and college basketball at Bentley College. Coach Trovato currently teaches in the Lawrence Public Schools and is the Varsity Coach at Haverhill High School.
